Cast as an extra

A couple weeks ago, I was cast an extra on set as a “professional” audience member. I submitted for the assignment with a Detroit based talent agency and was approved. While the pay as an extra audience member isn’t enough to quit my day job, it was a fun experience and I met some really cool people. It’s fun to get in front of the camera again.

Years ago, in my twenties, I signed up with a local model/talent agency and I did some work locally in Michigan for extra money. I worked the Michigan 400 races at MIS in Brooklyn, Michigan. I also worked for a hair care company. I went to local stores and handed out shampoo/conditioner samples while reciting a script. I enjoyed my time doing this and thought I’d give it another go and see how times have changed.

I want to do more background work as an extra - but right now we don’t have the tax credit for companies to film their movies/commercials here in Michigan. I’m hopeful we can get that credit back and more roles will become available locally.

That’s what’s going on for me right now on top of all the fun summer stuff.

Also, TikTok shadowbanned me so I have a sneak peek of the book release photo shoot here on Instagram if you want to check it out. If you really want to help - please share it!

Talk soon,

H
